Simon Jean Marie Christiaën

Dr Simon Christiaën, partner at DWF (France), is a French Specialist in Intellectual Property and a Patent Litigator (infringement, validity/nullity, revocation, ownership, contratc enforcement...). He is also an Arbitrator at the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Arbitration and Mediation Center. Simon has more than twenty six years of continuous experience, exclusively in law firms and departments specializing in intellectual property law and, in particular, patent law (advisory, prosecution & litigation). Since June 2018, he is Partner in charge of the Patent law activity of DWF (France), in partnership with patent engineers, experts in innovation and specialized counsel in France and abroad. From December 2008 to June 2013, he was a Partner and Head of the Intellectual Property department of Taylor Wessing (France) where he was involved in the management and growth of the team, including the hire of a partner dedicated to trade mark prosecution as well as building the team of associates. Prior to that from March 1999 to Nov 2008, Simon was a Senior lawyer in the IP/IT department of PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) formerly Landwell & Partners, responsible for the Patent & Design group. Simon has a Doctorate in International Intellectual Property Law (thesis financed by the French Ministry for Research and Technologies, entitled “The conflict of laws relating to Intellectual Property – Principles and Solutions of French and conventional Private International Law”). His doctorate was awarded with distinction, summa cum laude. His professional seniority (27 years in December 2019) and his excellent technical how-how allows him to assist both SME/SMIs and big corporate groups in the context of complex technological procedures involving French national and European/EU Utility and Design Patents notably in an international context.
