Danielle G. Van Ess

Danielle has been a licensed attorney since 2001. She earned her B.A. with honors from The George Washington University in Washington, DC in 1998, and her J.D. from Boston University School of Law in 2001. She returned to the B.U. Graduate Tax Law Program in 2021 to earn her Legal Masters Degree (LLM) in Taxation with a concentration in Trusts and Estates. Danielle founded DGVE law, LLC in Hingham in 2008 and has helped thousands of Massachusetts individuals and families both protect and preserve what matters most with wills, trusts, and comprehensive estate plans, and guide surviving loved ones through the worse of times. Danielle emphasizes deeply with her clients having walked miles in similar shoes. As a mother of 4 daughters, she understands all too well the worries that keep a parent up at night and how hard it is to manage all the competing demands on the time and energy of busy families just like hers. She also knows the genuine feeling of peace of mind that comes from prioritizing the most important things in life. After years of helping her clients wrap up their loved ones' final affairs, Danielle had to settle her younger brother's estate when he died during the COVID-19 pandemic in April 2020. She uses her personal experience and professional expertise to counsel and assist her clients at every stage of life. Danielle served on the Board of Directors for the Massachusetts Forum of Estate Planning Attorneys, including as an Officer and Director, from 2012-2024. She served on the Board of Directors of the Hingham Cemetery from 2019-2024. In addition to supporting the Hingham Public Schools and other local, community services over the years, DGVE law is a proud sponsor of Empower Grieving Children, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, founded in Scituate and operating out of Cohasset, that helps support, connect, and empower children and young adults up through age 24, including some DGVE law client families, who have experienced the death of a parent.
