Robert Schlacks

Bob Schlacks joined Conybeare Injury and Accident Lawyers in 2022, bringing a strong foundation in both civil and criminal litigation. He earned his B.A. in Economics, cum laude, from Eastern Illinois University, with a minor in pre-law. While initially focused on economics, Bob’s experience on the undergraduate mock trial team ignited a passion for the law and redirected his career path. He went on to earn his Juris Doctor from The John Marshall Law School (now the University of Illinois Chicago School of Law). After law school, Bob began his career representing clients injured in auto accidents, dog bites, and premises liability cases. He worked closely with clients, medical providers, and insurance companies to resolve claims—and wasn’t afraid to take cases to trial. In one notable case, Bob secured a jury verdict more than double the final settlement offer after his bicyclist client was struck by a car. In 2019, Bob returned to his roots in Southwest Michigan, where he was born and spent summers, to raise a family with his wife. He joined the Berrien County Public Defender’s Office, handling over 600 misdemeanor and felony cases in three and a half years. His time in criminal defense sharpened his courtroom skills and resulted in multiple not-guilty trial verdicts.
