About

Ryan D. Peterson is a Senior Associate at Consumer Justice Law Firm. He is a graduate of the University of Minnesota and the William Mitchell College of Law (now the Mitchell Hamline School of Law). Prior to joining Consumer Justice Law Firm, Ryan ran his own practice for ten years, suing companies under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and Fair Credit Reporting Act in federal court, and defending consumers sued for unsecured debts in state court. He is particularly proud of the decisions he secured finding that the FDCPA applies to attorneys in Minnesota who evict tenants for alleged non-payment of rent. Ryan currently devotes his practice to protecting consumers who are wrongly treated by large institutions such as banks, consumer reporting agencies, and landlords. He is a member of the National Association of Consumer Advocates (NACA). Ryan is also passionate about volunteering and consumer education. Previously, he taught classes through Minneapolis Community Education to help consumers prepare their own disputes of inaccurate credit reporting information. He currently serves as a commissioner on the Minneapolis Commission on Civil Rights, in which he, along with other attorney commissioners, adjudicate alleged violations of the Minneapolis Civil Rights Ordinance.
