About
Attorney was admitted to the Mississippi Bar in September 2023. She began her legal career in the nonprofit sector, working with Mississippi Immigrants’ Rights Alliance and El Pueblo Mississippi, where she focused on serving immigrant communities across the state. She later practiced at Danks Miller & Cory, handling civil, criminal, and immigration matters. Attorney currently practices with Chhabra, Gibbs & Trehan, where she focuses primarily on U.S. immigration law, representing individuals and families in both affirmative and defensive proceedings. Before entering the legal profession, Attorney spent nearly twenty years as an archaeologist, including more than eighteen years with the Environmental Division of the Mississippi Department of Transportation. She transitioned to the practice of law to pursue a more direct role in advocacy and service for the Hispanic community in Mississippi. Attorney has been involved with the Mississippi Hispanic Association since its founding in 1996, an organization co-founded by her mother. She currently serves as Treasurer and as Director of both the Bilingual Reading Program and the Scholarship Program. Born in Bogotá, Colombia, Attorney has lived in Mississippi since early childhood. She attended Byram Attendance Center and graduated from Mississippi State University in 2000 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology. She remains actively engaged in community advocacy and educational initiatives throughout the state.
