Benjamin Blair Hasty

I focus my practice on defending people charged with DUI, criminal offenses, and serious traffic-related matters across York County and surrounding areas of South Carolina. I founded Carolina Criminal Defense to give people clear answers, strong advocacy, and real direction when they are facing some of the most stressful moments of their lives. Before entering private practice, I served as an assistant solicitor in the Sixteenth Circuit, where I prosecuted cases in York County, including DUI matters. That experience gave me firsthand insight into how criminal cases are built, how prosecutors evaluate evidence, and where weaknesses in a case often exist. I use that perspective every day in defending my clients. I earned my J.D. from the University of South Carolina School of Law and my undergraduate degree in political science from Clemson University. I was admitted to practice in South Carolina in 2015 and have focused my career on criminal defense and DUI litigation ever since. My approach is direct, strategic, and evidence-focused. When someone hires me, they are often facing uncertainty about their license, record, job, and future. I take that seriously. My goal is to step in early, evaluate the facts, identify pressure points in the State’s case, and build the strongest defense possible. I was born in Little Rock, Arkansas, and moved to Greenville, South Carolina, in 1991. I attended Greenville County public schools, graduated from Eastside High School, and later spent time in Genoa, Italy, where I played semi-professional football and attended language school. Over the course of my career, I have received recognition including Top 10 Under 40 by the National Academy of Criminal Defense Attorneys and advanced training through the American Association of Premier DUI Attorneys.
