About
Born in San Diego and raised in the San Diego/Tijuana cross-border community, Carlos has been actively involved in serving those in the San Diego/Tijuana cross-border community. Carlos attended the University of California Berkeley for his Bachelor of Arts, majoring in Political Economy and minoring in Ethnic Studies. He then attended the University of San Diego School of Law, where he earned his J.D. and his Master of Laws in Taxation (LL.M.). While at USD, Carlos served the community by working at the Federal Income Tax Clinic for Low Income Tax Payers and also the Family Law Facilitators Office at the Chula Vista Courthouse. At graduation, Carlos was recognized for completing over 100 hours of pro bono service while in law school. Carlos commenced practicing Tax Law as an attorney in 2017 at Richard Carpenter’s Tax Law Office. As a bilingual speaker, English and Spanish, with a strong desire to help those in need, he has been defending taxpayers against the Internal Revenue Service and California state tax agencies. His experience includes helping both individuals and business entities with a variety of complex tax issues including: Tax Court, Tax Audits, Liens, Collection Matters, Penalty Abatements and off-shore/foreign tax and reporting requirements. As an attorney trained in tax law, Carlos passionately and relentlessly works hard to defend those in need. With an attention to detail and specific client needs, Carlos tactfully custom tailors the right solutions for each of his clients to yield the best possible results.
