About
Spencer J. Brooks is a Partner at Brown Carrington, PLLC, where he focuses his practice on family law matters, including divorce, child custody, child abuse and neglect, paternity, adoption, domestic violence, and child support cases. Before joining Brown Carrington, Spencer spent five-and-a-half years practicing family law at Goldberg Simpson, LLC. During the final three years of his time there, he served as a partner and represented clients in complex litigation and appellate matters. His work earned him recognition on the 2024 and 2025 Kentucky Rising Stars lists published by Thomson Reuters, an honor awarded to only a small percentage of attorneys in the state. Prior to entering private practice, Spencer served for six years as a staff attorney to two Family Court judges in Jefferson County, Kentucky. That experience provided him with a detailed understanding of the family court system and the judicial decision-making process. Spencer earned a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from Indiana University Bloomington and received his Juris Doctor from the University of Louisville Louis D. Brandeis School of Law. While in law school, he received a fellowship in administrative law and served as Senior Notes Editor of the University of Louisville Law Review, where his work earned recognition from the National Conference of Law Reviews. He is a member of the Kentucky Bar Association and the Family Law Section of the Louisville Bar Association.
