About
I am a founding partner at Barket Epstein Kearon Aldea & LoTurco LLP, where I lead the firm’s DWI and Vehicular Crimes group. With over 33 years of experience in criminal defense, I have tried more than 100 criminal cases to verdict. Currently, I serve on the Board of Directors of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. I am the Immediate Past President of the New York State Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and have been a member of its board of directors for the past eight years. I was appointed by the Governor of New York to the State’s Commission on Forensic Sciences, which is responsible for establishing minimum standards and accreditation programs for forensic laboratories across New York State. I was honored with the President’s Award by the New York State Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers for outstanding service and have been named a New York metro area Super Lawyer every year since 2014. Additionally, I have been a member of the Board of Trustees for Hartwick College for the last six years. As a lecturer, I speak regularly at continuing legal education seminars for attorneys nationwide. I conduct training programs for many public defender offices in the New York City area, as well as seminars throughout New York State and across the country on DWI defense and trial skills. To date, I have trained more than three thousand attorneys. Since 1998, I have also served as an adjunct professor of law at Elisabeth Haub School of Law at Pace University, teaching trial practice. I have published numerous articles addressing trial techniques, challenges to scientific evidence, legal updates, and various issues related to criminal and DWI defense.
