Samuel August

Samuel August is a Hawaii family law attorney based on Maui who represents clients in divorce, child custody and visitation disputes, temporary restraining orders, prenuptial agreements, and guardianship proceedings. His practice is focused exclusively on matters before the Hawaii Family Court. Family law cases often involve complex legal issues and significant personal consequences. Samuel August works closely with his clients to develop practical strategies and provide clear guidance throughout every stage of the legal process. He is known for thorough preparation, effective advocacy, and a results-oriented approach to negotiation and litigation. Born and raised on Maui, Samuel graduated as valedictorian of Baldwin High School, where he was a four-sport varsity athlete. He earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Notre Dame and later graduated with honors from the William S. Richardson School of Law. While in law school, he served on the University of Hawaii Law Review and received the U.S. Department of Education Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) Fellowship. Samuel began his legal career in Washington, D.C. with Norton Rose Fulbright, representing Fortune 500 companies and executives in matters involving federal agencies, including the U.S. Department of Justice, Securities and Exchange Commission, and Commodity Futures Trading Commission. After returning to Maui, he worked as a Deputy Public Defender handling family court–related criminal cases involving abuse allegations and protective order violations. Prior to founding his firm in 2024, he practiced family law at Lowenthal & Lowenthal.
