Shadi Ala'i Shaffer

I focus my practice on Estate Planning, Trusts, Probate, and Trust Administration. Before beginning my legal career, I gained valuable skills through an extensive and diverse work history, which has contributed significantly to my approach in serving clients. I started my own firm to protect families, children, and businesses from the California Probate system and to advocate for clients, helping them avoid the court system whenever possible. Over 21 years ago, I co-founded the Asset Protection & Elder Law Center with my best friend of over 30 years, Patrick P. Phancao. Together, we set out to create a law firm built on lifelong relationships, where we could support our clients through every stage of their lives. Since its inception, the Asset Protection & Elder Law Center has remained dedicated to client service and responsiveness. As the firm has grown, I’ve continued to provide personalized attention, thoughtful guidance, and cost-effective representation. Our motto, "To Educate, Motivate, and Protect," reflects the mission we’ve upheld for more than 21 years. My passion for estate planning has allowed me to build lasting relationships with clients and their families, many of whom see me as both their counsel and a trusted friend. As a result, my current practice is focused heavily on post-death administration, where I assist Trustees in administering trust assets to the beneficiaries efficiently. I’m also deeply involved in the local community and give back through legal work, donations, and volunteer efforts. I’ve served as a Big Sister for Big Brothers Big Sisters OC and have been on the Board of Stand Up for Kids OC for two decades. Helping homeless youth transition into safe homes and supporting them as they rebuild their lives is something I care about deeply. As a self-made entrepreneur, I’m committed to making a difference in the lives of others. My team and I strive to provide an experience that will leave you feeling confident and supported.
