About
R. Julio Aleman focuses his practice on criminal defense and has also handled serious traffic matters, peace and protective orders, and administrative hearings tied to alleged violations of law. His abilities grew from years of direct service, taking on demanding criminal and traffic cases soon after joining the Maryland State Bar Association. He has secured acquittals across a wide range of disputes. In 2011, he represented a Montgomery County mother charged with 134 counts of prescription fraud; more than one hundred counts were dismissed, and he obtained a not-guilty verdict on the rest. That same year, he won an MVA hearing for a woman who faced losing her license after refusing a breathalyzer test, preserving her ability to drive. From 2013 to 2015, he worked in legislation as a lawyer and lobbyist for The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission, conducting in-depth statutory research. During that time, he prosecuted an Internal Affairs case involving alleged misconduct by a Park police officer and defended the commission in personal injury suits. He returned to criminal defense in 2015. Within a year, he secured a full acquittal in a DUI case involving a police cruiser, protected a bar’s license from revocation, and earned a not-guilty verdict in a sex abuse of a minor and second-degree rape case. In 2017, he persuaded the State to dismiss attempted first-degree murder charges against a client. While he does not promise specific outcomes, he commits to using the facts of each case and his full efforts to pursue the strongest possible result. Mr. Aleman was born in El Salvador and has lived in Rockville, Maryland since age ten. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Maryland, College Park in 2003 and his law degree from Penn State’s Dickinson Law in 2008.
