About

I’m Christopher Adkins, the founder of Adkins Law, PLLC, where I represent clients throughout Huntersville, Mooresville, and the Lake Norman area. My practice focuses on family law and civil litigation, including divorce, child custody, child support, equitable distribution, and spousal support. I’m originally from Charlotte and earned my B.S. in Criminal Justice from Appalachian State University. I went on to receive my J.D. from Oklahoma City University School of Law, followed by a Master of Criminal Justice from Boston University and a Certificate in Terrorism Studies from the University of St. Andrews in Scotland. Additionally, I hold an M.B.A. from Louisiana State University and a Certificate in Fundamentals of Global Sports Management from New York University. Before starting my practice, I served as a Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Officer for over six years, during which I earned the Advanced Law Enforcement Certificate and made more than 1,200 arrests, including several hundred DWIs. I also served as a combat engineer officer with the North Carolina Army National Guard, deploying overseas in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. These roles instilled in me a disciplined and problem-solving approach that I bring to my work in family law. I’m a North Carolina DRC Certified Mediator in Superior Court, Family Financial, and Estates & Guardianships, as well as a Parent Coordinator. I’m also a South Carolina Board Certified Family and Circuit Court Mediator and hold certification in Collaborative Family Law. I’ve been recognized as a Super Lawyers Rising Star from 2021 to 2025 and authored *The Book on Divorce in North Carolina* and *I Live in Two Homes Now*, a children’s book for families navigating separation. My work has been featured on A&E’s *The First 48*, and I remain actively involved in the Lake Norman community. I live in Huntersville with my wife and our four children.
